Cook County Jail

            The nation's largest jailhouse, Cook County Jail sits on 96 acres, contains around 10,000 prisoners at any given time and is guarded by 3,900 law enforcement officials. It has housed criminals such as John Wayne Gacy, Richard Speck, Al Capone's sucessor Frank Nitti, Outfit boss Tony Accardo, terrorist Jeff Fort, and the Chicago Seven. The electric chair was in use here until 1962.

It is located next to the current Cook County Criminal Courthouse which is the busiest felony courthouse in the country.
