La legislazione dell’Unione europea deve imporre ai governi di garantire e fornire a tutti i cittadini, in misura sufficiente, acqua potabile e servizi igienico-sanitari. Chiediamo che: 1.le istituzioni dell’Unione europea e gli Stati membri siano tenuti ad assicurare a tutti i cittadini il diritto all’acqua potabile e ai servizi igienico-sanitari; 2.l’approvvigionamento in acqua potabile e la gestione delle risorse idriche non siano soggetti alle “logiche del mercato unico” e che i servizi idrici siano esclusi da qualsiasi forma di liberalizzazione; 3.l’UE intensifichi il proprio impegno per garantire un accesso universale all’acqua potabile e ai servizi igienico-sanitari.

The EU legislation should require governments to ensure and to provide all citizens with sufficient and clean drinking water and sanitation. We urge that: 1.The EU institutions and Member States be obliged to ensure that all inhabitants enjoy the right to water and sanitation. 2.Water supply and management of water resources not be subject to ‘internal market rules’ and that water services are excluded from liberalisation. 3.The EU increases its efforts to achieve universal access to water and sanitation.

La legislación de la UE debe exigir a los gobiernos que garanticen y proporcionen a todos los ciudadanos servicios de agua potable y saneamiento convenientes Instamos a que: 1.por obligación, las instituciones comunitarias y los Estados miembros velen por que todos los ciudadanos puedan ejercer el derecho al agua y el saneamiento; 2.el abastecimiento de agua y la gestión de recursos hídricos no se rijan por “las normas del mercado interior” y que se excluyan los servicios de agua del ámbito de la liberalización; 3.la UE redoble esfuerzos para lograr el acceso universal al agua y el saneamiento.
