Tarier pâtre " juvénile " ( Saxicola rubicola - European stonechat )

            Le Tarier pâtre se nourrit presque exclusivement d'invertébrés tels que des insectes et des larves de taille petite ou moyenne. Il chasse souvent depuis un perchoir bas mais découvert et utilise la méthode « se poser et s'abattre sur la proie ». Il descend pour capturer la proie sur le sol et retourne sur le même perchoir. Il effectue aussi des sorties rapides et peut poursuivre des insectes volants sur une certaine distance en voltigeant, ou fait du vol stationnaire pour glaner des proies sur la végétation.
La méthode change en fonction de la saison.

The common tarier feeds almost exclusively on invertebrates such as small and medium-sized insects and larvae. It often hunts from a low but uncovered perch and uses the "land and fall on prey" method. It descends to capture the prey on the ground and returns to the same perch. It also performs fast exits and can chase flying insects for a certain distance while hovering, or hover to glean prey on vegetation.
The method changes depending on the season.
