1970s Gateshead in the snow as viewed from Newcastle (B&W)

            This photograph was taken in the late 1970s inspired in part by the 1971 film “Get Carter” starring Michael Caine as a London gangster returning to the North East of England. Many local landmarks appeared in the film, two of which are visible in this photo, which was created from a scanned negative.

The first, and probably the most well-known, is the Trinity Square Car Park on the horizon in the center of the frame.  The second is Saint Cuthbert's Village (center right) which was used as the location for one of the character's flat.  Saint Cuthbert's Village was opened in 1970 and was demolished in 1995. Similarly, Trinity Square Car Park was opened in 1967, and was demolished in 2010
