Espee Trio USAFA 28 May 09 - a photo on Flickriver

            I don't normally shoot mid-train helpers, but when you have a trio like this one, it would be criminal not to!

This Espee trio was holding things together on this 2x3x2 CSUX coal train as it worked its way to the Martin Drake power plant in Colorado Springs.  The snow-covered mountain back there is Pikes Peak and that brown area is an eye sore...the remnants of early mining along the Front Range.  I know they've been trying to reclaim that spot by planting trees and whatnot, but I think it was later the same year as this shot that they had a landslide that took out a bunch of the new growth.  Regardless, it's been almost 6 years since I took this shot and the scar is still there.
