Bridge_P8135644-HDR - a photo on Flickriver

            Although it has an uncertain future, the Johnson Street Bridge was opened in January of 1924 and has provided a rail and road link between downtown Victoria and Victoria West ever since. It is a bascule-type bridge, which can be raised with the assistance of a large concrete counterweight, to allow passage of larger water craft underneath.

Doing HDRs during the day requires a tripod, patience and a vision of the final composition before you push the shutter button. Doing HDRs at night is much the same except that each of the exposures you will use to create the final image may also be a time exposure. This increases the likelihood of blurred, or poorly registered layers and also of ghosting. This image is composed of 5 separate time exposures layered using an HDR algorithm covering approximately four f-stops of exposure.
