Near Hematite Virginia - a photo on Flickriver

            This shot was taken from Amtrak's The Cardinal.  This shot was taken about 1/2 way down Allegheny Mountain between the Allegheny Tunnels (there are several right in a row) and Covington VA which is about 10 miles west of Clifton Forge VA.

You have now crossed the Alleghenies and are descending into the watershed of the James River which flows towards the Atlantic.  You have crossed the Eastern Continental Divide.
