Por estos días esta bella Piranga rubra ha estado de visita con un nivel de voracidad extremo.

            El viaje que le espera de regreso al norte del continente americano está ya cerca y no puede más que prepararse para abordarlo según se lo dicta su instinto migratorio.

Estas lluvias de marzo y abril son una de las señales que ella espera para saber que la primavera en el norte está ya en curso y que las plantas e insectos que constituyen su dieta están dispuestos y servidos para enaltecer su llegada. 

Esta época es también la ideal para apreciar el cambio maravilloso que ocurre en los juveniles machos quienes nacieron con el color amarillo pardo discreto de su madre y que por estos días han decidido vestirse de un rojo vistoso que esperan les ayude más adelante en su lucha por ganarse el corazón de alguna pareja una vez estén ya maduros y hayan demostrado poder soportar tan épico viaje hasta la región sur y media del este de los Estados Unidos.  

Aprovechémosla por estos días pues solo hasta el último trimestre de este año podremos verla de regreso.

The rains between March and April are the signal this Summer Tanager is waiting to start its voyage back to the north looking for better conditions. We will miss it for at least 6 months until next October when we expect to see it back again before the cold weather invites her to come back to the tropic.
