Isle of Skye - The Storr - a photo on Flickriver

            Vieles hat sich auf der Skye nach (?!) der Pandemie geändert. Covid Restriktionen gibt es kaum noch - dennoch hat man wohl die Gelegenheit und die Ruhe während der zwei Jahre genutzt, um den Tourismus auf der Insel auszubauen. Sowohl am Quiraing, als auch am Storr findet man nun groß angelegte, gebührenpflichtige Parkplätze (3-5 Pfund, maximale Parkdauer 12h), dort zu übernachten ist nun untersagt und wird polizeilich wohl auch kontrolliert. Äußerst schade, denn gerade der cozy Parkplatz am Quiraing war für mich stets ein Highlight. Aber wir wissen wohl alle, woher dieser Umstand rührt. Vermüllung, Unachtsamkeit und Respektlosigkeit gegenüber der Natur ziehen Kontrollmechanismen nach sich. Das hat zur Folge, dass so ziemlich alle übrigen Parkplätze in der näheren Umgebung vollgeparkt werden, damit der Weg zum Ausgangspunkt der Wanderungen möglichst kurz gehalten werden kann. Ärgerlich zudem auch, dass man für die Gebühren faktisch nichts erhält, keine facilities (lediglich eine Toilette in desolatem Zustand am Storr), keine Möglichkeit, Wasser abzufüllen oder ähnliches.

Dies außer Acht gelassen sind die beiden Landschaften doch so ziemlich das schärfste, was man in Schottland so finden kann. Gutem Wetter geschuldet konnte ich endlich auch das Gebiet um die Abbruchkante des Quiraing erkunden - was für eine atemberaubende Szenerie. Dazu später mehr...
