9/25/21 Bear Creek Cleanup in Charlesmont Area

            Over 50 dedicated volunteers helped cleanup Bear Creek near Charlesmont at our Joint Cleanup of Clean Bread and Cheese Creek/Maryland Waterways Foundation / Neighbor Space Cleanup Event. Volunteers removed over 75 bags trash from the historic Bear Creek on Saturday (9/25/2021) including 2 shopping carts, 2 submerged tents, a mattress a crab pot, a box fan, a bike, a chain link fence and a kiddie pool! Thank you everyone so very much for all your incredible hard work in support of the National Park Service’s War of 1812 trail! Our volunteer dedication to working toward a cleaner, greener, healthier community and environment is beyond measure! 

While this cleanup was planned and run by the aforementioned groups, we couldn’t do any of it without our incredible volunteers and our wonderful supporters.  We would also like to thank the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Ocean Conservancy, American Rivers, Day to Serve, and National Public Lands Day and for all their assistance and support on this cleanup. Atlantic! We would also like to thank the students and faculty of General John Stricker Middle School and the community for all the incredible volunteers they supplied! Thank you also to Baltimore County Highways for supplying us with a dumpster for our cleanup. We would also like to send out a special thanks to National Park Service Ranger Marks and historian Robert Reyes who brought maps and photos to help highlight the historical significance of Bear Creek and the Battle of Northpoint during the war of 1812.
