Vanishing Act - a photo on Flickriver

Vanishing Act

            Snow, ice, and melt water mingle with reflections in the pool at the terminus of the Myklebust Glacier, Jostedals National Park, Norway.

My youngest son followed me to the water's edge, while my wife and older son opted to keep their distance and maintain somewhat drier feet. According to the locals with whom we spoke, the Myklebustbreen possessed noticeably greater ice volume and expanse even ten years ago. As with most glacial ice world-wide, the ancient glaciers in Norway are in the midst of a vanishing act.
