Kelly Dam - Standing Stone Lake (Overton County, Tennessee)

            Historic rustic dam on Standing Stone Lake in Standing Stone State Park in Overton County, Tennessee.  The area had been severely eroded and damaged by clear cutting and over grazing in the early 20th century.  Standing Stone State Park was a multi-agency land rehabilitation project involving the U.S. Forest Service, the National Park Service, and the New Deal Works Progress Administration (WPA) and Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) agencies.  The rock faced coursed stone and concrete Kelly Dam and 69-acre Standing Stone Lake were constructed in 1938 as a WPA project.  

The dam was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing resource to the Standing Stone Rustic Park Historic District (NRHP District No. 86002794).
