Gray Whale Cove Beach [Take Two] - a photo on Flickriver

            I decided that I didn't have enough of Gray Whale Cove Beach, so I went back today.  Perched on the granite rock in the foreground, I patiently waited for the sun to descend behind the large rock formation, as there were barely any clouds and the lighting otherwise would have been to harsh.

A young couple walked past my position headed to the pathway behind the rock, and I warned them to be careful since every few waves a big swell of water swished behind the rock.  Sure enough a surge of water soon sent them running.  I was of course pleased since they moved out of the frame and the water also erased their footprints.

Based on the composition I decided against using my trusty 0.9H grad ND, but instead stacked 0.9S + 0.6S grad ND filters (soft transition), angled at around 4 o'clock.  My intent was to capture the warm sunlight on the granite cliffs in the rear and also some interesting water action swooping around the rock.  Single exposure.
