Dumb Luck

I didn't know it at the time, but this was the last passenger train to run to Traverse City that I happened to stumble across back in July 2005. The train was a Lake Central Railtours excursion that ran up the TSBY for the annual Cherry Festival. Not long after this, the line to TC became excepted track, ending any future passenger operations. Great Lakes Central and MDOT have recently sunk a good amount of money into the line, however, so it wouldn't surprise me if SRI ran an excursion up here at some point in the future.

Power for the train on this day were TSBY GP35s #385 and #389. #389 has since been scrapped, and #385 was still a couple of years away from its celebrity status of becoming the first locomotive to wear GLC paint.
