A sign celebrating the 26 years of Transnistria, a tiny strip of land between Moldova and Ukraine.

Once belonging to the Soviet Union, Transnistria is a self-proclaimed Republic, considered by the UN to be part of Moldova but de facto independent since the ceasefire between Moldova and Transnistria of 1992 (following few months of military conflict). A kind of geopolitical limbo where Soviet symbols are often still used (even their flag it's very similar to the one of the USSR).

In the background you can see a statue of Lenin and the Parliament building.
