I really appreciate the comfort of the Hilton it provides, but the Swindon branch is a clear no-go. It does, by far, not meet it's own standards. Dirty curtains with all kinds of stains on it. Equipement broken for months (telling from the batteries as they leak acid). The ATM not to accept international card (very bad thing beeing this far away from the city). Wireless internet out of order for days. And, finally, a cuisine that is simply not acceptable.
At least on business days it has very professional people at the reception, I'm sorry for them.

But it's not just the hotel. At the big shopping mile shops will close at 5:30pm. Even Starbucks shuts down at 6pm. Can you believe this?

Sadly enough, the region also shows a remarkable absence of female beauty. It just don't want you to go out for the evening.

The best thing to do there is to grab a book and fall asleep. Really.
