After summiting Gokyo Ri, I had planned a rest day at Gokyo since I was pretty exhausted by then. Mingma, our Sherpa guide, was having none of that. He insisted i climb to the Fifth Sacred Lake, Ngozumpa, for even closer views of Everest and Cho Oyu, and the surrounding ranges. So he, a trail friend Alec, and I took off the next morning on this trail further up into the mountains. Using a series of small tricks, Mingma coaxed me further and further on when my body said no, and we finally made it.

To Ngozumpa, the Fifth Sacred Lake (alt 16,371 ft/4990 mt).
After the trek to Gokyo Ri. Khumbu region of Himalayas, Nepal.
