This little happy chap is the exact opposite of sadness, really. He doesn't even know what it means or how it feels, except when his food hasn't been served on time of course. So, I think this wicked angled portrait quite represents his constant - slightly confident - state of mind.

In an attempt not to go overboard with the ultra-wide angle to keep a slight sense of authenticity, I decided not to go overboard with an ultra-wide angle, I used the old Nikkor 35-80mm from my even old Nikkon F50 Film camera instead and mounted it on my Nikkon D80.

Added two vintage grunge textures on top rotated in two different directions. The first one in Hard Light mode on 38% opacity and the other in Hue mode on 29%. A copy of one texture was layered on top of it in Vivid Light mode on 38% opacity with the boy masked out using a large soft brush. A B/W adjustment layer was used on top of the stack in Soft Light mode on 100% opacity for the mono tone effect. Another Curves adjustment layer was used to darken the skin tones a bit on 67% opacity. Finally I copy/merged the whole bunch and added real 35mm Fujicolor Superia 1600 film grain to emphasize the old color film effect.
