Michigan Central Station's Once Great Hall

After being out of service for more than 2 decades, the Michigan Central Station's Great Hall is falling apart. This building was once the tallest train station in the world but now is nothing more than a meeting ground for the homeless, scavengers, vandals, urbex photographers, and judging by the markings on the walls paintball enthusiasts. The city council of Detroit voted in 2009 to raze the structure though that is now in limbo.

This room is enormous in scale. Nearly an entire city block long and 5 stories high it is a cavern. water damage has taken its toll and the tiles that once adorned the ceiling arches have fallen in some areas, and some of the stone walls themselves have been ripped off their backings by eager scrappers.

The cost estimates to renovate this once gorgeous building range from $80 to $300 million. Anyone want to take odds on that happening?

For the record this is a 12 image stitch that spans about 450 degrees. Some may ask why more than 360 degrees? Because it looks more balanced this way.
