Southern Brackenfern - a photo on Flickriver

Southern Bracken Fern (a.k.a. Lacy Bracken, Southern brackenfern; Pteridium caudatum) - The Ingraham Highway (off Research Road), Everglades National Park, Homestead, Florida

This plant morphologically grabbed my by the eye,
and I couldn't not look at it.

And now I'm wondering if it starts out with a single leaf off the stem, and then grows side leaflets on another day. Or, if it is what it is from the get-go.
If I was going to be there a couple weeks, I woulda went back to check that out.
