Eupen BE - Burg Stockem 02 - a photo on Flickriver

            A Master of Stockem" is mentioned for the first time in 1172 in a document. Even then a castle which deals, nevertheless, nothing with the today's arrangement seems to have existed.

As a centre of the rule Stockem the today's castle found out her oldest known mention in the middle of the 14th century. In the course of the centuries rebuildings and renovations occurred several times. 

About 1600 the whole arrangement had completely disintegrated. In 1778 a fire destroyed the precastle nearly completely.

In her present form the arrangement comes predominantly from the 18th and 19th century. 

The gate construction comes from the 18th century, while the eastern tower comes from the 19th century. 

The mansion was anew established in 1805 by a member of the family Vercken from whose possession the arrangement passed over  the family Grand Ry. 

The castle is listed since 1986. The donjon of the castle resident today pieces of art of the Christian's Silvain endowment.
