Slavonski Brod (Croatia) - Pedestrian Area

(EN) My last destination of that trip (though only for one hour) was Slavonski Brod – I stayed there only until the arrival of the train to Zürich. The city’s located at the banks of Sava river, right at the Bosnian border. Opposite is the Bosnian town Brod, formerly called Bosanski Brod and Srpski Brod, until Sarajevo decided that it shouldn’t have any ethnic attribute. The main attraction is a huge citadel. There’s no real old town, but an agreeable, renovated center with two pedestrian zones.
From Slavonski Brod I directly rode back to Zurich, which I reached the next morning. That’s the last picture of this travel report.

(DE) Mein letztes „Ziel“ – allerdings nur für einen einstündigen Aufenthalt, bis der direkte Zug nach Zürich ankam – dieser Reise war Slavonski Brod. Die Stadt liegt an der Save, direkt an der bosnischen Grenze, gegenüber ist die Nachbarstadt Brod. Diese hiess früher Bosanski Brod, wurde aber seit der Zugehörigkeit zur Serbischen Republik in Bosnien „Srpski Brod“ genannt, bis man in Sarajevo entschied, dass überhaupt keine ethnische Komponente im Städtenamen vorhanden sein sollte. Hauptattraktion von Slavonski Brod ist eine riesige Zitadelle, die etwa die Hälfte des Stadtgebiets einnimmt. Eine richtige Altstadt gibt es nicht mehr, aber immerhin ein sehr angenehmes Zentrum, frisch renoviert mit zwei Fussgängerzonen.
Von Slavonski Brod aus fuhr ich dann direkt nach Zürich, wo ich allerdings erst am nächsten Morgen ankam. Mit diesem Bild endet mein Reisebericht.
