1768 Before the CopperDog 150, Calumet, MI

Image captured before the CopperDog 150. This dog sled race started in downtown Calumet and went 37 miles by snowmobile trail to Gay. After a mandatory 5-hour layover in Gay, mushers continued on another 60 miles to Copper Harbor. Due to warm weather and poor trail conditions, the return leg to Calumet (after 24-hour layover in Copper Harbor) was changed and to end instead in Mohawk.

This is the first year of the CopperDog 150, an exciting 147-mile night race that traverses some of the most beautiful terrain that Upper Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula has to offer, from historic downtown Calumet to Gay, to scenic Copper Harbor. Turnout, participation, and local enthusiasm was very encouraging, so hopefully this is just the first of many more!
