Living on the edge (of the outback), Hay Plain

Sturt Highway, west of Hay, NSW

The Hay Plain is a vast expanse of very flat and often treeless country in NSW, Australia which is crossed by the Sturt Highway, the principal road link between Sydney and Adelaide. Primary production does happen in this very arid place being mainly sheep and cattle grazing although there are some irrigated crops using water sourced from the Murrumbidgee River which crosses the plains to the north. This rather isolated farm house sits in the middle of the plain west of the town of Hay.
