This is the Statue of Liberty Nebula (NGC 3576)🌌. This bright emission nebula, located approximately 9,000 light-years away in the constellation Carina, is a stellar nursery where stars are currently being born. Spanning about 100 light-years across, it’s a celestial spectacle that’s larger than the well-known Orion Nebula. The nebula gets its name from the distinctive shape in the middle, reminiscent of the iconic monument, the Statue of Liberty. The complex and suggestive shapes within the nebula are carved by powerful winds from the nebula’s embedded, young, massive stars.
