Minnesota State Capitol, St Paul (1)

Just for grins, I thought I would post two versions of exactly the same tone-mapped image. This image and the one that follows were generated from the same colour TIFF file as spat out by Photomatix Pro. All processing after this was done in Lightroom 3.

In this image, I've gone for a very high contrast, dramatic look intended to bring out the texture of the stonework and the high cirrus clouds. I also toned the image slightly.

The majority of the difference between the two images (aside from the obvious toning difference) is explained by two settings. Firsly, I used different downmix settings to convert the original colour images to monochrome and I also applied a different tone curve to each.
