BVR 9 Mark Timothy

            The locomotive has had a chequered history in a short life so far. Originally built as an oil fired locomotive, She arrived at the Bure Valley Railway in 1999 from Winson Engineering, supposedly as another 'ready to run' engine. In outline, she had a 2-6-4 County Donegal Railway design; a look and a red livery which was superficially very attractive. However the cab was deemed to cramped for the driver and there were other problems that caused concern.

She went away for a rebuild and returned in 2003 as a coal fired 2-6-4 Leek & Manifold Railway locomotive. The running number also had to be changed as she was originally No.10 and soon after entry into traffic on the BVR it was found that radio interference her number could be confused with that of No.7.
If both locomotives were hauling trains on the same day, safe working could be comprimised.
