La Belle Fontaine - a photo on Flickriver

La Belle Fontaine

            Egalement appelée Aiguade de Vauban, car construite sous son autorité en 1703, elle servait autrefois au ravitaillement des navires en eau douce. Classé monument historique, ce réservoir peut contenir 860 000 litres. Il n'existe plus que 2 bâtiments de ce type en France aujourd'hui.

C'est probablement la plus surprenante des découvertes que j'aurais faites lors de ce tour de Belle-Ile.

Also called Aiguade de Vauban, because it was built under his authority in 1703, it was once used to supply ships with fresh water. Classified as a historical monument, this reservoir can hold 860,000 liters. There are only 2 buildings of this type in France today.

It is probably the most surprising of the discoveries that I would have made during this tour of Belle-Ile.
