Another One! - a photo on Flickriver

Another One!

            I guess there must be a family of sharp-shinned hawks nearby, because this appears to be the third individual we've seen in the yard in the last two weeks, after never having seen one before in eleven years (unless, of course, we mistook some in the past for cooper's hawks, which is fairly likely). It was doing the same exact thing as last time: hunting the many siskins in the yard. (Juvenile) sharp-shinned hawk, backyard Olympia.

Note (Nov 30): S/he was back today, stalking a flicker, which managed to escape after a tension-filled staredown of some minutes.
