Waiting for Mrs. Right - a photo on Flickriver

            We never would have noticed this burrowing owl on Morro Rock if a local birder hadn't called it to our attention. Every day for several days we checked back in on it and it was in this exact same spot and pose. The local birder said this was a male--the only burrowing owl at this location--that had been coming there the last couple of years waiting for a female to arrive.
