February 26, 2024: More Color Please

For about the last week we've had highs in the 50s° F and some spots of sun. The cherry trees in the yard are beginning to blossom (!), and this weekend Mrs. Orca and I saw (I suspect) the same confused garter snake, roused obscenely early from hibernation. There's some snow in the forecast, though, and this is only February after all, so we'll see what will come of the false spring.

In yardbird news things are holding steady and more-or-less the same as the last couple of reports, with the notable addition of a hermit thrush in the yard yesterday. House finch, backyard Olympia.
