I was originally enrolled as a SHUTTERSTOCK contributor on January 28th 2019. Shutterstock is an American stock photography company with headquarters in New York City, founded in 2003 by Photographer Jon Oringer. Having been passionate about photography since the age of seven years old, with a box brownie and black and white 120 roll film, these days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, a Nikon D850 FX Pro body as my trusted companion, I travel light with less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. The beautiful and historic old pier in Hastings, East Sussex, England, was destroyed completely by a devastating fire on Tuesday 5 October 2010. Like many of a certain generation, in those flames went the memories of my childhood and youth, simpler days when the world was a nicer place and people less angry and unforgiving.

Photograph taken at 07:36am on January 20th 2011, just Three months after the terrible fire, on the beach between St Margarets Road and White Rock Road opposite Verulam Place A259, and beneath the old pier in Hastings, East Sussex, England. 

The pier was designed by Eugenius Birch and spanned 910 feet in length with a maximum width of 190 feet. Her prime was in the 1930's.
