Zeereis met de Friendship - project Flessenpost - Fles No.7

            Tijdens mijn zeereis met de Friendship heb ik 14 flessen met daarin een brief in zee geworpen.
Vanaf het noordwestpunt van Engeland stoomden we in een rechte lijn naar Terschelling, een afstand van ruim 350 zeemijl. In dit traject heb ik met geregelde intervallen de flessen overboord gegooid.
Gister kreeg ik bericht van Nicolas en Glenn Jackson, dat de eerste fles, fles nummer 7, op het strand van Saltum in het noorden van Denemarken was gevonden.

Fles nummer 7 ging tegelijk met fles 8 te water, waarbij fles nummer 7 een plastic fles was, en nummer 8 een van de 12 andere lege cranberry-appelsap flessen was, die voor deze keer nog eens was verzwaard met drie stalen bouten, waardoor deze diep in het water kwam te liggen.
Hiermee werd een fles gepost die vooral door de wind zou verdrijven, terwijl de verzwaarde vooral op de zeestroming verplaats zal worden.
Nummer 7 is nu dus gevonden, 17 dagen later en hemelsbreed een afstand van 290 mijl te hebben afgelegd.

During my voyage with salvage vessel Friendship I threw 14 messages in a bottle into the North sea.
From the north-western tip of England we went in a straight line to the Frisian island Terschelling, the home-port of the Friendship, a leg of 350 miles.
With regular intervals the bottles were thrown overboard.

Bottle number 7 and 8 went overboard in the same position, with bottle number 7 beeing a light plastic bottle that would travel mostly by influence of the wind, and bottle number 8, a glass one, made heavier with three bolts, will be travelling by influence of the current.

Bottle number 7 was found on the 21st of august, 17 days after having being put in the sea.
I received a message from Nicolas and Glenn Jackson that the bottle was found on the beach of Saltum in north Denmark.
It has made a journey of 290 miles, that is 537 kilometres, a bit more than 31 kilometres in a day.
