Rezando bajo la lluvia (Meiji-jingu gyöen, Tokio)

Llovía de la manera tozuda que solo he visto llover en el que, paradógicamente, se conoce como el "país del sol naciente". Aún no se había borrado de nuestra retina el ajetreado hormiguero humano de Sinjuku, con su festival de neones y sus alardes de arquitectura futurista. Y allí, en mitad de un parque diseñado para imitar la quietud del bosque, la imágen surreal de un templo que engañosamente nos transportaba a una edad fuera del tiempo. Ni la cortina de agua era capaz de alterar el rictus del teatral monje que se preparaba para iniciar el sainete, o drama, de una boda, bajo el ceremonioso guión que lo marca todo en el budismo Zen.
