South Avenue in the South Wedge - Lux Lounge with Wall Mural

In case you haven't heard, Lux is a kick ass bar in Rochester's Southwedge Neighborhood. Come eat some Chex mix, sit by the outdoor fire, look at some cool art, all while enjoying a delicious cocktail. There is never a cover charge! We don't have a TV. We have a huge backyard (with a fire-pit for those chilly Rochester nights), a kickin' Juke Box, lots of silly board games, and a swanky pool table. AT LUX, EVERYONE IS WELCOME! We don't care about the color of your skin or your hair. We don't care if you are gay, straight, (or both). We don't care if you love Allah, Buddha, Jesus, Or none of the above. Lux Lounge is an alternative bar in the South Wedge, similar to what you'd find in a city like Portland or NYC. The atmosphere is very laid-back and conducive for conversation. Weekly specials are identified on the Lux website.

Lux offers arts & crafts nights, as well as benches and a hammock out back during warmer months. In the winter there is a fire and board games inside, and not to mention a juke box.

Though not an actual gay bar, Lux prides itself on being GLBT friendly and generally accepting of all kinds of people. rocwiki.org/Lux

Artist Jay Lincoln painted the large mural on the side of the Lux Lounge. He calls it "Sunflower Party" with the faces of a bunch of people he says doing South Wedge stuff. The mural is part of the new Avant Garden Project in Star Alley Park.

Arch Gateway -- Artist John Grieco made the wrought iron arch at the entrance. You'll find sunflowers on it too. He wanted this 11 by 10 foot sculpture to reflect the neighborhood. "Having lived in the South Wedge, it's a very warm neighborhood, a very classic neighborhood.
