Museum the Alvazaal: the guide 10 - a photo on Flickriver

            All the way in the back of the booklet we find these tickets for the museum. That the museum and the booklet served as marketing tools for the wine import firm is clear now. The top ticket shows that the booklet was sent around to clients in the wine trade with a ticket included that, once filled out in the name of the visiting client, gave free access. 

In the Spanish colors of red and yellow we read about the 'unique selling points' of 'Hesselink Hermanos & Co" ("the only firm in the Netherlands dealing this way"): they only sell to wine dealers, not to the public at large, they only deal in Spanish and Portuguese wines and they only sell by the barrel, not bottled.

How did it go with the Museum and 'Hesselink Hermanos Compania Holandesa"? The end of the firm is unclear but we know that the brothers got along less and less well. Family lore has it that the situation at some point deteriorated so badly that they only communicated by throwing paperballs across their desks at eachother (see the engraving's detail below). It stands to reason that in such circumstances the firm, and thus the museum, had to fold at some point...
