Sunrise across Swiftcurrent Lake - a photo on Flickriver

            We had scrambled up this hill in the dark of night, on our first morning of the trip seeking a sunrise location we had all seen shots from online. With our bear spray at the ready (and praying we didn't spray each other with it) we made our way up the hill and lo and behold we actually found the location we were seeking. Since there was no trail, we just had to scramble toward where we thought it was in complete darkness. 

We all picked our spots along the hill awaiting what turned into truly the most astonishing sunrise I've ever seen in my life. It just kept transforming and getting better and better. We kept shooting away as the sky kept changing.

Then, someone let out a yelp (we feared bear of course) and pointed to their right around behind us. We all turned around and saw this amazing view. Now we had epic views in both directions and had to keep switching back and forth between them

At the bottom left of Swiftcurrent Lake you can see our home base for the first couple of days of the trip. Many Glacier Hotel is one of the classic National Park Lodges with all of the traditions and history that go along with it.
