Republic of Trans-Dneister. - a photo on Flickriver

            'Painting in countries that don't exist is the new train bombing." Er! Actually I'd rather paint a train. But this works if you're looking for an alternative twist to your graff-buzz.
 
I painted this is in a park in Tiraspol. The capital of Trans-Dneister. A breakaway, self declared Republic of Moldova. In essence 'A country that doesnt exist'. Northern Cyprus! South Ossetia! Dagastan! Trans-Dneister? Are they countries are not? I spose it depends on what side of the fence you're sitting & which International body you're asking the question to..... For the record: They had passport control but wouldnt stamp my passport. They had their own army plotted up at the border with all manor of tanks etc & I am the proud owner of a few Trans-Dneistran Roubles that I kept as a souvenir. They are of course (like Transdneistran stamps) utterly worthless outside this zany enclave.. 

Trans-Dneister: Look it up... Better still Go & check it out. They got authentic KGB-looking buildings, statues (of tanks), real tanks (all over the gaff) & if you're really lucky you might get the world's coolest Moldovan Hip Hop chic to rock  'a freeze' in your photo..
