Man-Made Lake @ Centennial Park (20080409-141012-PJG)

My good friend, cage_ee asked me to explain the colour of the water with the bird shots at Centennial Park in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

Most of the bird shots are taken around a man-made lake. Currently the sluice gates are open at the bottom of this photo, and the lake really isn't all that deep. Like most water, it will eventually end up in the Petticodiac River, which in my lifetime, I have never seen blue due to the silt.

Once the sluice gates are closed later in the season, the lake will fill, and the silt settle, although the lake will never really turn a true blue. This was taken at the start of the spring melt.
