30-12-61 SWU876 Blue Line Guy Arab 1V/ Burlingham H41/32R at Doncaster's Christ Church

            Assisted by Guy Arab III LWT500 in close attendance, SWU876 maintains the service between Doncaster and Armthorpe on Saturday, 30th December 1961. A piece of hessian sacking (more readily available in those days) protects the radiator but there was little to be done about another phenomenon encountered during that and the following winter - diesel fuel freezing to gel in the tanks!  Colliery services began at 4am and in an effort to keep the buses warm they were left idling in the yard, much to the annoyance of nearby residents.
