BR May 1980 LJW336 Guy Arab UF at Cauldwell's, Stainforth.

            For fourteen years after withdrawal in December 1964, LJW336 was used as an office, with the passenger seats removed and electric light, heating and a telephone and desk installed.  Although this led to the deterioration beyond repair of the seats, stored separately in a shed, it was undoubtedly a key factor in the survival of the vehicle and its eventual availability for restoration.  In 1979 the bus was acquired for preservation by  my brother, John B. Platt, and the process of repainting and restoring it to running order began whilst the bus was still stored at the same location.
The exterior restoration of LJW336 was nearing completion at this stage but there was still considerable work to be done to bring the interior back to a presentable standard.
LJW became part of an impressive collection at the Aston Manor Motor Museum in Birmingham.  It has now been moved to the Aldridge site of the AMRTM and looks resplendent having undergone a re-paint and being sign written with the Blue Line insignia.
