Brooch from the St Ninian's Isle Treasure

            From the National Museum of Scotland.

This is a pennannular brooch (meaning formed into an incomplete ring - a completed ring would be annular), of Pictish design. A part of the St Ninian's Isle Treasure, discovered in the late 1950s on an island in the Shetlands. From the latter part of the 8th century.
