Abbey Rolduc in Kerkrade near the German border - Travel destinations-

During my visit to the province of Limburg in the south of the Netherlands, I visited the abbey Rolduc in Kerkrade. I took this photo at the bottom of the hill so that the difference in height is clearly visible. This special church is part of the former abbey. Here several peace-loving monks have silently professed their faith for centuries. It currently no longer serves as a monastery building. The entire complex is now a national monument and is on the Unesco World Heritage List. I had a lovely walk there and enjoyed the soothing and calming energy that is still there.

Tijdens mijn bezoek aan de provincie Limburg in het zuiden van Nederland bezocht ik de abdij Rolduc in Kerkrade. Deze foto heb ik onder aan het heuveltje genomen zodat het hoogteverschil goed zichtbaar is. Deze bijzondere kerk is onderdeel van de voormalige abdij. Hier hebben verschillende vredelievende moniken eeuwenlang in stilte hun geloof belijd. Momenteel doet het niet meer dienst als kloostergebouw. Het hele complex is nu een rijksmonument en staat op de Unesco werelderfgoedlijst. Ik heb er heerlijk gewandeld en genoten van de rustgevende en kalmerende energie die er nog steeds aanwezig is.
