Not native to the Hawaiian Islands
Oʻahu (Cultivated)

For whatever reason, some edible ginger grown in Hawaiʻi are very hot (spicy)! This one that I grow is no exception. The spiciest root is harvested after the leaves die back.

Garlic chives, also growing in this area (with thin, flat leaves), do not appear to affect the taste of the ginger.
