Back to my first photographic love, maco...or in this case, supermacro. This is the male anther (left) getting close with the female stigma on a self-polinating flower. Flower sex, in other words. The stigma receives the pollen from the anther.

This is a full-frame shot from my Casio EX-F1 at full zoom coupled with a wide-open Pentax 50mm. The vignetting is caused by the lens not fully covering the CMOS with full brightness. Normally the CMOS would be blanketed and overlapped by full light from a properly fitted lens.

Unlike close-up filters, you can shoot with this configuration just an inch or so from the subject, which turns it in to a microscope, really. I have included the set-up shot below. The flower is only about an inch across, being lit by my small LED flashlight. Depth of field here is about 1mm. Focus is just on the tips of the flower, um, parts.
