            Birmingham Canal Navigations Old Mainline in Smethwick.

The walk on the BCN Old Mainline (Wolverhampton Level) towpath from the Galton Valley Pumping Station to just before the Summit Tunnel (exited via the Nature Trail).

As I went beyond the pumping station, the towpath became very muddy, with a cycle trail down the centre.

So as soon as I saw steps just before the Summit Tunnel, I took that exit, which was on a Nature Trail between the old BCN canal and new BCN canal.
