La Battaglia delle Arance - a photo on Flickriver

Lo scontro si svolge nelle principali piazze della città, e vede impegnati equipaggi sul carro (simboleggianti le guardie del tiranno) contro le squadre degli aranceri a piedi i popolani ribelli) costituite da centinaia di tiratori. Si tratta indubbiamente del momento più spettacolare della manifestazione che ben evidenzia la lotta per la libertà, simbolo del carnevale eporediese. La battaglia delle arance insieme a tutti gli eventi storici presenti nella manifestazione di Ivrea, costituisce un’incredibile patrimonio culturale e goliardico, che posiziona la festa tra le più importanti nel panorama nazionale ed internazionale.
