A pileated woodpecker feeding chicks

            My husband and I heard that there was a pileated woodpecker nest not far from where we live and at a small wildlife refuge we had never heard of.  We decided to go check it out not knowing at all where the nest was.  We walked along this trail that bordered a marsh until we finally spotted one fly into a tree located in the marsh.   How excited I was when I saw this one feeding the chicks.  This is the male identified by the red stripe on its cheek.
