            Provincia di Siena, Toscana

Galgano Giudiotti, figlio di Guido e Dionisia, nacque nel 1148 a Chiusino (Siena), un piccolo borgo che sorge sull’Abbazia, in quella parte di Medioevo, colme di violenza, soprusi e stupri vissuti in modo lucido,come manifestazione di vigore e vitalità, ma sempre tesi ad affermare la propria forza e ad ampliare la propria sfera di dominio. Ed anche Galgano, come gli altri cavalieri, era fiero e prepotente e la sua giovinezza spensierata e frivola. Con il passar del tempo Galgano cominciò a rendersi conto dell’inutilità del suo modo di vivere, provando il tormento di non avere uno  scopo di vita. In questo stato d’animo maturò la voglia dio cambiare decidendo di ritirarsi sulla collina di Montesiepi a poca distanza di Monticiano. Galgano abbandonò il suo mondo disgustato dalle nefandezze commesse e da quelle che vedeva  continuamente commettere, per decidersi a una vita di eremitaggio e penitenza nella ricerca di quella pace che il suo tempo non consentiva. Come segno tangibile di rinuncia ad ogni forma di violenza prese la sua spada e la conficco in una roccia che affiorava dal terreno. Un grande gesto simbolico di estrema forza. Era l’ anno 1180. Galgano morì il 3 dicembre 1181.

Galgano Giudiotti, child of Guido and Dionisia, were born in 1148 to Chascano (Siena), a small suburb that rises on the abbey, in that part of Middle Ages, full of violenc and rapes lived in this way , that demonstration of vigor and vitality, but always thesis to affirm his/her own strength and to widen his/her own sphere of dominion. And also Galgano as the other riders, were fierce and bossy and his happy-go-lucky and frivolous youth. After sometime Galgano it started to become himself/herself/themselves account of the uselessness of his/her way of living, trying the torment not to have a purpose of life. In this state of mind it matured the desire god to change deciding to retire himself themselves on the hill of Montesiepi to little distance of Monticiano. Galgano abandoned his world disgusted by the committed iniquities and by those that he continually saw to commit, to decide him to a life of hermitage and penitence in the search of that peace that its time didn't allow. As I mark tangible of renouncement to every form of violence the took his sword and I hammer her in a rock that appeared on the surface from the ground. A great symbolic gesture of extreme strength. It was the year 1180. Galgano died December 3,1181.
