Tokopah, Wuksachi, and Watchtower Trails, The Great Western Divide

            Any day in Sequoia will give you the bluest skies and greens like you've never seen before. You'll also see redwoods and sequoia forcing their way after a thousand years out of the granite cliffs. You have to sit and marvel at the vistas before you.

Part of the problem with such blue skies is that the blues and mountains are overexposed of their own accord, and mountains become indistinct. Our first trip to Sequoia was in 2002, and the camera was my  first generation digital Olympus. I was not that good with landscapes, but here are a few... 

Our three favorite trails were The Watchtower, Little Baldy, and Tokopah Falls. In the first four trips, Tokopah falls had a trickle, but the seven miles were exhilarating. The only trouble was that we didn't know it was seven miles. But the great thing was that you would have scenes like you've never seen before.

This is party of the trail down to the falls: Tokopah Falls, also known as Tokopah Valley Falls, is a 1,200-foot cascading waterfall in Sequoia National Park, California. The falls are formed as the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River slides down a huge granite headwall of the glacial Tokopah Valley.  Here's a sampling of Watchtower, Tokopah, and Little Baldy. Little Baldy, our favorite trail, is 8033 feet, 33 feet higher than Big Baldy: The Little Baldy Trail climbs along switchbacks to the top of a granite dome, passing an incredible variety of wildlfowers along the way. The trail starts from the highest point on the Generals Highway, winding 1.7 miles (2.7 km) and gaining 790 feet (241 m) in elevation. At the top, enjoy views of the Great Western Divide and beyond.
